4 Housing
Who We Are
Moms 4 Housing is a collective of homeless and housing-insecure mothers. Before we found each other, we felt alone in this struggle, but united we have been able to fight for our families and our communities. There are thousands like us throughout the Bay Area, and now we are organizing to reclaim homes from the real estate speculators who evict our people for profit.
Our Mission
Moms 4 Housing exists to empower struggling single moms in our community to build a new legacy. We offer two years of safe and affordable transitional housing to moms and their children, including financial training, accountability, and a focused path from financial crisis to long-term stability.
Building Power through Mutual Support
Our organization exists to support mothers, children, and all Bay Area residents through the difficulties of homelessness. As we fight for long-term solutions to the housing crisis, we also work to build community within neighborhoods across Oakland. If we come together, we have the power to reclaim our neighborhoods from the big banks and real estate speculators

Projects & Programs
Grassroots Organizing
Through organising and community engagement, we raise awareness and grow networks of support from residents who can advocate for the change they want in their neighborhoods. People-power is critical to bringing about change. It also strengthens our network and collective impact in the fight for housing justice.
Transitional Housing
M4H extends a lifeline to homeless mothers and their children by offering a transitional program that spans two critical years. Our unwavering commitment includes financial education, a nurturing atmosphere of accountability, and a clear path from financial struggle to long-term stability.
Advocacy & Policy Creation
We are dedicated to serving our community through advocacy and policy initiatives. In collaboration with various stakeholders, we helped pass several measures that protect renters and expand access to affordable housing. We also inspired local and state legislation like SB 1079 to stop speculation in California
UC Berkeley Collaboration
Our new partnership with UC Berkeley's Geography Department intends to shed light on the history and harm caused by redlining in Oakland through community storytelling and past, present and future mapping. The end goal is to assist in creating policy to help prevent history from repeating itself.
Non-Violent Direct Action
Our organisation continues to utilize nonviolent direct action as a tool to address housing insecurity and instability.
